Why we do what we do

Sex Education

Why sex education? Why talk about something that makes people so uncomfortable? Why?

The simple answer – because we aren’t getting it right. We aren’t getting it right when we teach our children, we aren’t getting it right in how we approach sexual abuse, we aren’t getting it right in how we treat sexually empowered women, we aren’t getting it right as adults when our sex life isn’t what it should be – we just aren’t getting it right. Do I have it right? No, but I am trying, and I want other people to try too.

So we do what we do because questions like these, submitted by a reddit user, tell us that everyone has questions, and we should be able to answer them. These questions are from ninth-graders – but even adults have asked some of these questions. It’s a little sad that they aren’t empowered enough to ask these questions at home, but until they can, there are some great sex educators out there who are trying to get it right.
